Job summary

Energy + Environmental Economics (E3) seeks a Consultant who will develop PLEXOS production simulation and capacity expansion models to address client questions and forecast market fundamentals. You will lead modeling workstreams, gather relevant data, and translate results into client-ready reports and visuals.

Ideal candidates bring 3-5+ years in energy, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience with PLEXOS and/or EnCompass for production simulation or capacity expansion.
• Master's degree or Ph.D. in engineering, economics, computer science, optimization, public policy or related field.
• 3-5+ years of related energy-related experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to translate technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop PLEXOS production simulation (ST) and/or capacity expansion (LT) models addressing client questions.
• Strategize modeling approaches and discuss analysis plans with the modeling team.
• Gather data from clients and translate into accurate model inputs.
• Apply QA/QC to debug cases, assess results, and propose additional scenarios.
• Translate results into clear visual representations and deliver client-ready outputs.
• Lead project workstreams, write report subsections, and support customer requests.
• Conduct independent research to develop reasonable assumptions with incomplete data.
• Present findings to customers and respond to questions.
