Job summary

Norsk Hydro is seeking a skilled PLC technician for our Saint Augustine, FL facility. The role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing PLC-controlled systems, programming logic, and integrating HMIs with sensors and actuators to keep production running smoothly.

You'll collaborate with engineering on upgrades, train junior technicians, and support other technicians as needed. The shift is permanent, with a 3rd shift schedule and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment (required).
• Experience with ladder logic programming in Allen Bradley Logix/Studio 5000 (preferred).
• Proficiency in configuring HMIs and industrial communication protocols.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled systems and related components.
• Program and modify PLC logic using ladder logic and related languages.
• Integrate PLCs with HMIs, sensors, and actuators.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on system upgrades and improvements.
• Train junior technicians and provide technical support.
• Support mechanical technicians as needed (approx. 30% of time).
• Contribute to CRI and continuous reliability improvement efforts.
• Respond to emergencies to address breakdowns quickly.

Starting rate of pay

3rd shift M - F (11.00PM - 7.00AM).

What you will be doing

• Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled systems and related components.


• Perform intermediate programming, safety configuration


• Program and modify PLC logic using standard programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, function block).


• Integrate PLCs with HMIs, sensors, and actuators.


• Collaborate with engineering teams on system upgrades and improvements.


• Train junior technicians and provide technical support.


• This position is a multi-craft role and will be required to support mechanical technicians as needed, approximately 30% of the time in role.


• Continuous Reliability Improvement (CRI): Utilize predictive measures to enhance reliability


• Implement and support continuous reliability improvement standards and practices.


• Emergency response: immediate action to address breakdowns and other suddenly developed conditions.

What will make you successful?

3-5 years of hands-on professional experience troubleshooting and supporting PLC-controlled equipment. (required)

• Experience in Ladder logic programming in Allen Bradley Logix/Studio 5000 Software. (preferred)


• Proficient in programming User defined Tags, Add-on instructions, and Structured text programming. (preferred)


• Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g. Ethernet/IP). (preferred)


• Experience in editing HMI applications in Factory talk view studio. (preferred)
