Job summary

Hydro is seeking a PLC Technician to troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled systems, program logic, and integrate PLCs with HMIs and sensors. The role includes supporting engineering upgrades and mentoring junior technicians. A multi-craft capability is required, with about 30% time assisting mechanical technicians.

Emergency response and reliability improvement are part of the duties. 3–5 years of hands-on PLC experience and knowledge of Allen Bradley Logix/Studio 5000, Ethernet/IP, and

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting and supporting PLC-controlled equipment.
• Experience with ladder logic programming in Allen Bradley Logix/Studio 5000 software.
• Proficiency in structuring programming: tags, add-on instructions, and structured text.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP).
• Experience editing HMI applications in FactoryTalk View Studio.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled systems and related components.
• Perform intermediate programming, safety configuration.
• Program and modify PLC logic using ladder logic, function block, and structured text.
• Integrate PLCs with HMIs, sensors, and actuators.

• Pursue Continuous Reliability Improvement (CRI) initiatives.

Shift hours: Rotating Shift 6pm - 6am

3 days on and 3 days off, then 4 days on and 4 days off

What you will be doing

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled systems and related components.
• Perform intermediate programming, safety configuration
• Program and modify PLC logic using standard programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, function block).
• Integrate PLCs with HMIs, sensors, and actuators.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on system upgrades and improvements.
• Train junior technicians and provide technical support.
• This position is a multi-craft role and will be required to support mechanical technicians as needed, approximately 30% ofthe time in role.
• Continuous Reliability Improvement (CRI): Utilize predictive measures to enhance reliability
• Implement and support continuous reliability improvement standard and practices.
• Emergency response: immediate action to address breakdowns and other suddenly developed conditions.

What will make you successful?

• 3-5 years of hands-on professional experience troubleshooting and supporting PLC-controlled equipment. (required)
• Experience in Ladder logic programming in Allen Bradley Logix/Studio 5000 Software. (preferred)
• Proficient in programming User defined Tags, Add-on instructions, and Structured text programming. (preferred)
• Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g. Ethernet/IP). (preferred)
• Experience in editing HMI applications in Factory talk view studio. (preferred)
