Job summary

Prysmian Group in Marion, IN is seeking a qualified PLC/Controls Engineer to design, install, troubleshoot and maintain PLC-based control systems for production equipment. You will work with maintenance staff and electricians to support projects, upgrades and repairs.

Responsibilities include developing control logic, interpreting electrical schematics, and ensuring safety, codes, and documentation. A BS in Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred with 5+ years of manufacturing

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing (wire & cable experience preferred).
Advanced computer skills including PLC programming and CAD.
Knowledge of governmental and industry regulations with regard to EH&S.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of wire and cable equipment and processes.
Support the maintenance department in electrical/electronic systems troubleshooting and training.
Provide engineering support and direction to the maintenance department for maintaining electrical and electronic equipment in a manner which optimizes operational performance and safety.
Manage assigned projects including cost estimations, designs, specifications, approvals, procurement, installation, startup, cost control, safety and implementation to achieve Plant objectives.
Manage outside electrical engineering, construction and consulting firms according to the Contractor Management Program.
Maintain awareness of spares inventory and recommend storeroom adjustments and critical spares.
Assist with annual budget preparation for management review.
Adhere to all practices and policies; ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
Develop, write, and de-bug control logic for machine control; modify and improve complex equipment.
Analyze and interpret electrical schematics to component level for repairs.
Utilize programming devices to analyze PLC programs for failures or improvements.
Provide direction to electricians in troubleshooting and program AC/DC drive systems.
Document all electrical work and keep documentation current.
