Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems or related field.
• 3-5 years in a manufacturing setting preferred.
• Experience with PLC programming and industrial automation standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems.
• Develop and modify HMI/SCADA interfaces for operators.
• Integrate sensors, actuators, and control devices into systems.
• Collaborate with engineers to support installations and upgrades.
• Perform testing, validation, and commissioning of controls.
• Maintain electrical schematics, logic, and configuration docs.
• Provide technical support for maintenance and operations teams.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA and safety standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement for system reliability.

Job Description

PLC Controls Engineer will design, develop, and maintain control systems for industrial automation. This role involves programming PLCs, troubleshooting control systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and safe operation of automated equipment.

• Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
• Develop and modify HMI/SCADA systems for operator interfaces
• Integrate sensors, actuators, and other control devices into automation systems
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to support new equipment installations and upgrades
• Perform system testing, validation, and commissioning of control systems
• Maintain documentation including electrical schematics, control logic, and system configurations
• Provide technical support for maintenance and operations teams
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., NFPA 70E, OSHA)
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reliability

This role reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications:

• PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text)
• Experience with Allen-Bradley (RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000), Siemens (TIA Portal), or similar platforms
• Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems (FactoryTalk, WinCC, Ignition)
• Understanding of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field required
• 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
