Job summary

Qualifications

PLC Controls Engineer

Join a dynamic engineering team where you'll be responsible for designing, programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning industrial automation solutions. This position offers a high degree of project ownership, exposure to a wide range of technologies, and the opportunity to work directly with customers to deliver successful automation projects from concept through implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, configure, and maintain PLC and HMI-based control systems.
  • Program, test, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley/Rockwell automation platforms.
  • Investigate and resolve complex control system and automation issues through effective root cause analysis.
  • Support system startups, commissioning activities, and field deployments.
  • Produce and maintain electrical schematics, project documentation, and technical records.
  • Diagnose faults involving PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, industrial networks, and field instrumentation.
  • Provide technical support and automation solutions directly to customers.
  • Evaluate potential project challenges and implement measures to reduce technical risk.
  • Work closely with customers and engineering teams throughout all phases of project execution.
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years experience in Controls Engineering, Industrial Automation, or PLC Programming.
  • Demonstrated experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC and HMI programming.
  • Ability to create and structure PLC programs based on project requirements and specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience developing and interpreting electrical drawings and AutoCAD schematics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel when required.
  • Comfortable working independently in customer-facing environments.
Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, or other PLC platforms.
  • Experience with motion control systems, servo technology, and industrial networking.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and control panel design.
  • Understanding of UL508A, NEC, SCCR, and machine safety standards.
  • Experience supporting equipment commissioning and startup activities.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
