Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation for network and infrastructure operations.
  • Create reusable playbooks, scripts, templates, integrations, and workflows.
  • Use Ansible, Itential, NetBox, NetBrain, GitLab, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps to improve deployment and support.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration management, upgrades, and validation.
  • Integrate platforms, devices, ticketing, inventory, and internal apps via APIs.
  • Maintain platform configuration standards and operational best practices.
  • Identify deviations and implement corrective actions.
  • Support Network as Code, SDN, SD-WAN, and Zero Trust initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot platform, network, and systems issues; document troubleshooting procedures.
  • Design highly available, scalable infrastructure and assist with DR/testing.
  • Collaborate across engineering, cybersecurity, product, operations, and support teams.

Platform Engineer focused on network and infrastructure automation

This engineer will help improve how infrastructure is configured, deployed, monitored, validated, and supported across enterprise and Operational Technology environments. The position combines hands-on network automation, platform engineering, scripting, infrastructure operations, and technical problem-solving.

The engineer will develop reusable automation solutions that improve configuration consistency, reduce manual work, strengthen infrastructure standards, and increase platform reliability. The role will also contribute to initiatives involving Infrastructure as Code, Site Reliability Engineering, DevSecOps, Network as Code, Software-Defined Networking, SD-WAN, and Zero Trust Network Architecture.

This is a hands-on position with a strong emphasis on automation, scripting, development, systems integration, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for network and infrastructure operations.
  • Create reusable playbooks, scripts, templates, integrations, and automation workflows.
  • Use tools such as Ansible, Itential, NetBox, NetBrain, GitLab, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps to improve infrastructure deployment and support.
  • Automate network provisioning, configuration management, upgrades, compliance validation, and operational tasks.
  • Integrate infrastructure platforms, network devices, ticketing systems, inventory tools, and internal applications through APIs.
  • Use network inventory and source-of-truth platforms to support accurate, repeatable automation.
  • Establish and maintain platform configuration standards, technical controls, and operational best practices.
  • Identify deviations from approved configurations and implement corrective actions.
  • Support Network as Code, Software-Defined Networking, SD-WAN, and Zero Trust initiatives.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and perform root-cause analysis for complex infrastructure issues.
  • Develop solutions that improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and resource utilization.
  • Establish performance benchmarks and contribute to infrastructure capacity planning.
  • Analyze platform performance and utilization data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Troubleshoot escalated platform, network, system, and integration issues.
  • Develop and improve troubleshooting procedures that reduce downtime and accelerate incident resolution.
  • Perform system tuning and optimization using established IT Service Management practices.
  • Design and deploy highly available and scalable infrastructure solutions.
  • Support platform backup, disaster recovery, system recovery, and recovery testing.
  • Integrate security requirements into infrastructure automation and platform-development processes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including:
    • Configuration standards
    • Troubleshooting guides
    • Architecture documentation
    • Automation procedures
    • Recovery procedures
    • Operational best practices
  • Collaborate with engineering, architecture, cybersecurity, product, operations, and support teams.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.
  • Promote knowledge sharing through documentation, training, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Support mission-critical infrastructure in an all-hours environment when required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in platform engineering, network engineering, infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, automation, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure or network automation.
  • Experience developing automation using scripting, configuration management, or Infrastructure as Code tools.
  • Experience supporting one or more of the following technical domains:
    • Enterprise networking
    • Compute infrastructure
    • Storage infrastructure
    • Windows or Linux systems
    • Configuration management
    • Identity and Access Management
    • Platform development
  • Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure, platform, or systems issues.
  • Strong understanding of performance monitoring, capacity planning, system reliability, and operational support.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, configuration standards, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work with technical teams, business stakeholders, architects, product teams, and support organizations.
  • Ability to participate in all-hours support when required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience automating network infrastructure using Ansible Automation Platform or AWX.
  • Experience developing workflows with Itential or a similar network orchestration platform.
  • Experience with NetBox as a network inventory, IP address management, or source-of-truth platform.
  • Experience using NetBrain for network discovery, mapping, documentation, troubleshooting, or validation.
  • Experience with Git, GitLab, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience writing scripts or integrations using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or a similar language.
  • Experience integrating infrastructure platforms through REST APIs.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration-management practices.
  • Experience developing reusable automation playbooks and workflow components.
  • Experience implementing configuration-compliance and infrastructure-validation processes.
  • Experience with enterprise routing, switching, network security, and infrastructure services.
  • Experience with Software-Defined Networking, Network as Code, or SD-WAN.
  • Experience with Identity and Access Management.
  • Experience with Windows Server administration, including access control, patching, monitoring, and system recovery.
  • Experience supporting compute, storage, virtualization, or hybrid-cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience applying Site Reliability Engineering and DevSecOps practices to infrastructure operations.
  • Experience building highly available and scalable infrastructure platforms.
  • Experience creating self-service infrastructure or internal platform capabilities.
Operational Technology Experience

Experience supporting Operational Technology or industrial infrastructure is highly preferred.
