Job summary

MITRE Mission Computing is seeking a Platform Support Engineer to be the front line for the systems powering national security workloads across MITRE’s Federally Funded Research and Development Centers. You’ll triage issues, follow runbooks, and keep internal tools and production workloads unblocked.

You will operate in a high-stakes environment with CMMC compliance, high availability, and cyber resilience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related experience.
• 2+ years supporting production applications and infrastructure.
• Hands-on Linux and Windows administration: logs, services, permissions, troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with AWS and container/Kubernetes: IAM, instances, pods, deployments.
• Experience with service desks and ticket systems (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow, GitHub Issues).
• Incident response and on-call rotations (PagerDuty).
• Ability to follow change-management and security procedures in regulated environments (CMMC, SOC 2).
• Clear written and verbal communication with users, developers, and platform engineers.
• Experience working in Kanban workflow.

Responsibilities

• Triage issues and guide users on platform usage.
• Develop and follow runbooks to unblock teams.
• Escalate to platform teams when needed and document resolutions.
• Provide timely, clear updates to stakeholders during incidents.
• Collaborate with engineering and research teams to maintain platform health.
