Fastly, Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for Platform Security to define the multi-year technical vision and oversee a global, high-performing team focused on foundational infrastructure services and secure orchestration.

You’ll drive cross-functional alignment and balance innovation with reliability, shaping how security evolves across the Fastly platform. The role emphasizes strategy, leadership, and collaboration more than hands-on coding, with a strong emphasis on building

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience managing Platform or Site Reliability Engineering teams.
• 10+ years of related technical experience with distributed systems and infrastructure as code.
• Demonstrated ability to drive a durable technical roadmap and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Experience with secrets and workload identity management (e.g., SPIFFE, SPIRE, Vault).
• Experience building and automating large-scale production infrastructure in cloud and on-prem environments (Terraform Enterprise or similar).
• Extensive hands-on Linux experience with system internals and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Define the long-term strategic vision and multi-year technical roadmap for Platform Security.
• Oversee and develop a high-performing team of engineers and principal ICs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders using a product-owner mindset to set roadmaps and priorities.
• Drive organizational adoption of best practices for reliability, security, and operational excellence.
• Communicate strategy, progress, and risk to executive leadership and technical stakeholders.
• Leverage deep technical experience to guide security and orchestration initiatives without direct coding.
