Job summary

Zoox is seeking a passionate software engineer to help develop Robot software and infrastructure powering Autonomy systems on automotive-grade hardware. You will design, implement, and maintain platform-level software, embedded Linux tooling, and drivers to enable robust, scalable robot software across multiple devices on Zoox vehicles.

You will work with cross-functional teams including application software engineering, release management, hardware, manufacturing, and operations to deliver

Qualifications

• 4+ years delivering production systems and software applications.
• Designed and deployed end-to-end CI/validation toolchains to verify Linux/OS images for production software releases supporting different hardware platforms.
• Proficiency in Linux internals, including init systems, containerization, filesystems, kernel-space development, device drivers, and systems programming in C/C++ and scripting languages (Python/Bash).
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Graduate degree with a focus on networking, operating systems, or firmware.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end CI/validation toolchains for the OS platform powering on-bot devices and applications.
• Architect and implement platform-level software to support robust and scalable robot software infrastructure
• Configure and manage embedded Linux build systems (Yocto) and bootloader processes (U-Boot) for reliable startup and maintenance
• Develop and optimize device drivers and kernel-space components using C/C++ or Rust.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless integration and delivery of the OS platform, support hardware bring-up and manufacturing.
