Job summary

Zoox is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join the Firmware Body Systems team in Foster City. You will design, develop, test, and integrate embedded software for body, thermal, lighting, and door systems, coordinating with suppliers and vehicle engineers to deliver a highly automated ride experience.

You will create requirements, designs, test plans, and documentation, contributing across the software lifecycle and handling supplier integrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of experience developing real-time embedded software for distributed electro-mechanical systems.
• Strong C++/C programming experience and object oriented programming.
• Experience with embedded micro-controllers and/or microprocessors (ARM, PowerPC or equivalent).
• Understanding of various sensors, motors, actuators.
• Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up and system debugging.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded software for body, thermal, lighting, and door functions of the Zoox vehicle.
• Create software requirements, design documentation, test plans, and other supporting documentation.
• Work cross-functionally with vehicle engineers, controls engineers, electrical engineers, validation engineers, and other experts to ensure a seamless and highly-automated experience for the Zoox vehicle.
• Integrate supplier sub-systems into the Zoox software stack.
• Contribute to all phases of the software development cycle including prototyping, requirements capture, design, implementation, and validation.
