Job summary

Zoox is seeking an embedded software engineer to join our Firmware Power Systems team in California. You will design, build, and test real-time embedded code in C/C++ for Battery Management Systems, integrating supplier subsystems and coordinating with vehicle, controls, and validation teams.

You will implement safety algorithms, help bring up boards, and ensure seamless hardware-software integration for power management, charging control, and low-level vehicle controls.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of real-time embedded software experience for Power Electronics and BMS.
• Strong embedded C/C++ programming experience.
• Experience with ARM and PowerPC microcontrollers.
• Hands-on hardware bring-up and system debugging.
• Familiarity with CAN/LIN and automotive communication protocols.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded software for BMS.
• Implement core logic for cell balancing, charging control, and thermal management.
• Integrate supplier sub-systems into Zoox software stack.
• Create software requirements, design documentation, test plans, and other supporting documentation
• Work cross-functionally with vehicle engineers, controls engineers, software engineers, validation engineers, and other experts to ensure a seamless and highly automated experience for the Zoox vehicle
• Contribute to all phases of the software development cycle including prototyping, requirements capture, design, implementation, and validation
