Job summary

Desert Financial Credit Union is seeking an OPS Systems Engineer I to maintain Linux, AIX, and DB2 environments supporting the Keystone application in a hybrid work setup in Phoenix, AZ.

You will collaborate with senior engineers on routine system tasks, health checks, patching, upgrades, automation, and incident response, while documenting steps and procedures to improve reliability and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent experience required.
• 3+ years related work experience required.
• 1+ years system administration for Linux/AIX required.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities required.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills required.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment required.
• 1+ years DB2 upgrades, troubleshooting, and backup strategies preferred.
• Proficiency in Linux (RHEL) and AIX administration preferred.
• DB2 administration, tuning and maintenance preferred.
• Cloud-based infrastructure and virtualization technologies preferred.
• Understanding of server security, networking, and storage management preferred.
• Familiarity with Keystone application and architecture and its dependencies preferred.
• RHCE, IBM Certified Administrator, AIX, DBE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine system monitoring and maintenance of Linux and AIX environments.
• Help monitor DB2 databases to ensure availability and performance.
• Assist in incident response by identifying root causes and basic troubleshooting under supervision.
• Learn and participate in OS and software patching/upgrades planning and execution.
• Coordinate with senior engineers to apply security updates.
• Document upgrade steps and post-upgrade verification procedures.
• Assist in disaster recovery tests and maintain DR documentation.
• Leverage automation tools to maintain daily processing tasks and document configurations.
