Job summary

Infinitesima Ltd in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, is seeking a Systems Engineer – Platform Performance to own key performance functions across Metron, our high-throughput Atomic Force Microscopy platform.

This role spans hardware, software and data, requiring influence across mechanics, electronics, optics, control, software and wafer handling to improve production performance. Hybrid work is available after probation, with collaboration across system architects and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of industry experience in a related field.
• Experience across hardware, software, data and multi-disciplinary instrumentation.
• Ability to translate customer needs into measurable platform specifications.
• Experience analysing system-level data and test results to identify performance limits.

Responsibilities

• Own system-level performance areas including throughput, wafer navigation, repeatability and time-to-recipe.
• Define measurable platform performance specifications from stakeholder needs.
• Define and manage performance budgets across handling, motion, and data processing.
• Develop and execute test plans to validate performance against requirements.
• Analyze logs and data to locate where time, accuracy or repeatability are lost.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality and project teams to integrate solutions and drive improvements.
