Job summary

Infinitesima Ltd is seeking a Metrology Systems Engineer to own metrology performance across a complex instrument, translating customer needs into measurable specifications and budgets. You will collaborate with optics, mechanics, electronics, and software teams to deliver reliable, data-driven performance.

You will influence design decisions, drive validation, and help optimize trade-offs to achieve high-precision measurements in semiconductor-related metrology environments.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of industry experience in a relevant field.
• Experience with AFM or related nano-characterisation techniques.
• Knowledge of precision measurement, metrology performance, accuracy, repeatability, uncertainty, and requirements definition.
• Data analysis using tools such as Python, MATLAB or Excel.

Responsibilities

• Owning system-level metrology performance, focusing on height accuracy and height repeatability.
• Turning customer and stakeholder requirements into clear, measurable metrology specifications.
• Defining and managing performance budgets across the instrument and subsystems.
• Developing test plans to validate metrology performance against requirements.
• Defining reference samples, calibration approaches and measurement protocols.
• Analyzing instrument data to identify error sources (noise, drift, probe effects, environmental impact).
• Providing technical guidance to development teams to improve systems engineering practices.
