Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Metrology Engineer to develop, validate, and deploy inspection methods for highly engineered hardware supporting the SPARC project.

You will work hands-on with complex parts and advanced measurement systems, partnering closely with Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, Design Engineering, and R&D to ensure hardware meets demanding performance and reliability requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years in manufacturing/production or field environment.
• Experience developing metrology/inspection techniques.
• Ability to interpret complex drawings and apply GD&T.
• Experience programming metrology equipment.
• CAD design experience (Siemens NX preferred).
• Familiar with QA systems and Atlassian tools (Jira/Confluence).

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine advanced mechanical inspection techniques.
• Document methods and procedures with evidence of capability.
• Collaborate daily with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering for readiness.
• Evaluate and select metrology equipment and planning.
• Maintain metrology equipment and calibration/5S activities.
• Provide design-for-inspection input during drawing release and GD&T.
• Cross-train as a Quality Technician and support throughput.
• Summarize inspection results for stakeholders.
• Design and procure inspection fixturing and tooling.
