Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Performance Control Software Engineer for Platform Architecture.

The role focuses on measuring, analyzing, and controlling power and performance across Apple silicon, spanning OS to user applications. You will design experiments, build instrumentation, and prototype in-kernel algorithms while collaborating with cross-functional teams to productize performance controls for hundreds of millions of devices.

Qualifications

• BS in CS, ECE or equivalent engineering degree.
• Experience with operating system design and implementation.
• Kernel software development experience in C or C++.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design, prototyping, implementation and code review of kernel features related to performance control, power management and scheduling.
• Design and conduct experiments to characterize execution efficiency under constraints like temperature or power delivery.
• Use empirical methodology to illuminate power–performance tradeoffs.
• Influence a broad cross-functional audience spanning processor architecture, silicon engineering, system integration and application performance evaluation.
• Find opportunities to improve measurement and control capabilities of Apple silicon.
