Apple Inc. is seeking a Performance Control Software Engineer within Platform Architecture in California to help measure and optimize power and performance across Apple silicon.

You will design in-kernel performance control algorithms, run experiments with instrumentation, and collaborate with OS, silicon, and application teams to productize solutions for hundreds of millions of devices. The role requires a strong background in kernel development (C/C++), OS design, and performance profiling

Competenze

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering or similar engineering degree.
• Experience with operating system design and implementation.
• Kernel software development in C or C++.
• Experience with system-level performance profiling, debugging tools, and tracing frameworks.

Mansioni

• Participate in the design, prototyping, implementation and code review of kernel features related to performance control, power management and scheduling.
• Design and conduct experiments to characterize execution efficiency and the effects of physical constraints such as temperature or power delivery.
• Use excellent empirical methodology to illuminate power–performance tradeoffs.
• Influence a broad cross-functional audience spanning processor architecture, silicon engineering, system integration, OS development and application software performance evaluation.
• Find opportunities to improve the measurement and control capabilities of Apple silicon.
