Job summary

Apple’s Platform Architecture team is seeking a Performance Control Software Engineer in Seattle to measure, analyze, and control power and performance across Apple silicon workloads. You will design experiments, build instrumentation and data visualizations, and prototype in-kernel control algorithms that scale across hundreds of millions of devices.

You will collaborate with processor architecture, silicon engineering, OS development, and application teams to productize performance control

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering or similar engineering degree.
• Experience with operating system design and implementation.
• System level or low level software development experience in C or C++.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct experiments to characterize execution efficiency and the effects of physical constraints such as temperature or current limits.
• Use excellent empirical methodology to illuminate power–performance tradeoffs.
• Collaborate with and influence a broad cross-functional audience spanning processor architecture, silicon engineering, system integration, OS development and application software performance evaluation.
• Identify opportunities to improve the measurement and control capabilities of Apple SoCs.
• Invent new performance control concepts and carry them through prototyping, production implementation and tuning.
