Job summary

Clear Street is seeking a Platform Engineer to build the internal platform that lets product teams ship software faster, safer, and with confidence. You’ll create self-service capabilities, reusable services, and SDKs that reduce operational complexity for engineers.

You’ll design golden paths, modern CI/CD platforms, and platform automation, collaborating with engineers to improve observability, scalability, and developer productivity across the organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with production-quality software in Go, Python, Java, or similar languages.
• Experience designing developer platforms, internal tooling, automation frameworks, or shared engineering services.
• Deep understanding of cloud-native technologies, Kubernetes, Linux, containers, and distributed systems.
• Experience building modern CI/CD platforms and pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, Jenkins, or similar.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or comparable technologies.
• A product mindset—usability, adoption, documentation, and developer experience.
• Passion for automation and eliminating repetitive manual work.
• Strong communication skills and ability to partner with engineering teams.
• Curiosity to explore emerging technologies and AI-powered tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build self-service developer platforms enabling provisioning, deployment, secrets management, and shared services.
• Create reusable platform services and SDKs including identity, deployment orchestration, and APIs.
• Design golden paths to make the easiest way also the best way for engineers to build, test, and deploy.
• Build CI/CD platforms to reduce deployment time and automate testing, security, and compliance.
• Improve developer workflows with local environments and faster build systems.
• Collaborate with application teams to reduce toil and improve reliability.
• Measure platform productivity with metrics and engineering insights.
