Job summary

Clear Street in New York, NY seeks a Platform Engineer to build internal platforms and self-service capabilities that accelerate product delivery. You’ll partner with software engineers to reduce friction, design scalable platform services, and improve CI/CD while promoting IaC and GitOps.

The role emphasizes strong engineering fundamentals, cloud-native architectures, and automation, with a hybrid work model and competitive compensation in a fast-growing capital markets platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps, or SRE.

Responsibilities

• Build internal platforms and self-service capabilities to provision infrastructure, deploy apps, manage secrets, and access shared services with minimal toil.
• Create reusable platform services and SDKs including identity & authorization, secrets management, deployment orchestration, service discovery, configuration management, and platform APIs.
• Design opinionated golden paths to simplify building, testing, deploying, and operating software.
• Develop CI/CD platforms to reduce deployment time, improve release confidence, and automate testing, security, and compliance.
• Improve developer workflows with faster builds, episodic environments, and platform automation.
• Measure and improve developer productivity through platform metrics and insights.
• Collaborate with application teams to simplify delivery and remove operational toil.
• Build platform capabilities for scalability, observability, and reliability across engineering.
• Promote Infrastructure as Code and GitOps while adopting modern workflows.
• Experiment with emerging AI-powered developer tooling.
