Job description

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product Management to define strategy, roadmap and adoption of a centralized service catalog and self‑service capabilities that reduce friction and cognitive load for engineering teams.
• Establish clear “Golden Paths” that enable teams to build, deploy and operate software safely and efficiently while maintaining flexibility to innovate.
• Act as a key connector between platform engineering, architecture, security and application teams—ensuring cloud platform tooling is intuitive, scalable and aligned with enterprise standards.
• Lead and grow a team of Platform Engineers, investing in coaching, technical excellence and career development.
• Drive improvements in developer velocity, onboarding efficiency and platform consistency across the organization.

Qualifications

• Experience leading internal platforms or developer‑facing products with a focus on developer experience as a core product capability.
• Strong understanding of modern software delivery practices, including CI/CD, GitOps and cloud‑native platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with the Internal Developer Portal ecosystem and tools such as Backstage, Port or Cortex.
• Ability to build alignment and consensus across Security, SRE, Architecture and Engineering leadership.
• Experience managing and developing teams across multiple locations and time zones.
• Comfort partnering with Product Managers and delivery leads to prioritize work and drive predictable outcomes.
• Experience embedding AI‑assisted development into developer workflows and defining clear working conventions.
• Continuous learning mindset and desire to adopt new technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

Skills and Experience

• 10+ years of experience in engineering roles, 5+ years leading and developing engineering teams.
• Internal Developer Platforms and service catalogs (e.g., Backstage or similar frameworks).
• Cloud platforms and container orchestration (AWS preferred; Kubernetes and Docker).
• Infrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform or equivalent).
• Software development using languages such as TypeScript, Python, Java or Go.
• API and microservice design in distributed systems.
• DevOps and DevSecOps practices across the full SDLC.
• Observability concepts including metrics, logs, traces and open standards such as OpenTelemetry.
• CI/CD tooling and developer workflows (e.g., GitHub, Jira, Confluence, pipeline orchestration tools).
• Technical documentation, including product requirements, high‑level architecture and detailed design artifacts.
