Octopus Energy in Houston is seeking a Platform Engineer II to help design, build, and operate core platform services across cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools.

You will work with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), Python, and databases to improve reliability, scalability, and developer experience, collaborating with senior engineers.

The role offers ownership, cross-team collaboration, and opportunities to shape services used by engineering teams worldwide.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS and cloud infrastructure
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with security best practices and automation tools
• Experience contributing to production systems in a distributed/cloud environment

Responsibilities

• Contribute to building and improving platform services, writing code, reviewing changes, and supporting deployments
• Work alongside senior engineers to design and implement solutions that improve scalability, reliability, and developer experience
• Help maintain and operate core systems such as CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and monitoring
• Participate in incident response and retrospectives, contributing to learning and improvement
• Collaborate with other engineers to understand needs and translate them into practical platform solutions
• Take ownership of tasks and smaller projects, while developing towards owning larger areas of the platform
