Job summary

O'Reilly Auto Parts is seeking a Platform Engineer II in Springfield, MO to manage the lifecycle of enterprise virtualization platforms and core infrastructure services, from design to deployment and retirement, leveraging automation and telemetry to improve reliability and capacity.

You will monitor platform lifecycles, implement IaC-based provisioning, analyze telemetry, update runbooks and SOPs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive standardized infrastructure patterns.

Qualifications

• Experience managing enterprise virtualization platforms across full lifecycle.
• Ability to design, deploy, and retire virtualization environments with emphasis on reliability and security.
• Experience defining platform features and automated provisioning pipelines.
• Ability to analyze telemetry and logs to identify optimization opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor virtualization platform lifecycle including clustering, capacity planning, upgrades, and integrations.
• Define and deliver enterprise virtualization platforms to meet engineering needs.
• Deliver automated provisioning pipelines and infrastructure capabilities.
• Research telemetry data to identify optimization opportunities.
• Troubleshoot bottlenecks and high-availability issues.
• Execute deployment and maintenance plans for platform components.
• Analyze large datasets for resource utilization and capacity trends.
• Edit runbooks, DR procedures, and SOPs as needed.
• Work within a project plan to achieve sprint goals.
• Review maintenance backlog and reprioritize work to reduce downtime.
• Provide guidance to cross-functional teams on virtualization topics.
• Demonstrate automated provisioning workflows and self-service tooling.
• Develop capabilities through training and external accreditations.
