Job summary

Outtake is seeking a platform engineer to own the foundations that product engineers rely on, designing and maintaining systems, tools, and primitives that shape developer workflows, reliability, and velocity.

You will translate a vision into durable code, operate in fast-moving environments, and help define the platform's direction while supporting an in-person Brooklyn team with health benefits and flexible PTO.

Qualifications

Track record of building and owning foundational systems.
Ability to ramp quickly in ambiguity.
Judgment to balance velocity with ideal solutions.
Desire to help define the platform's direction.
Experience enabling other engineers.
Comfort turning patterns into durable systems.
Nice to have: agentic systems or large-scale data ingestion.

Responsibilities

Own the foundations that product engineers rely on, including systems, tools, and primitives.
Prioritize work that multiplies impact across the engineering org.
Develop and evolve a point of view on how engineers should work, then translate into code.
Operate in fast-moving environments and turn them into solid foundations.
Build or own internal platforms and shared infrastructure that engineers default to.
Reduce errors with better abstractions rather than one-off fixes.
Unlock faster product work across teams through infrastructure.
Be the go-to person when systems get unclear to guide evolution.
