Job summary

CGS seeks a Member of Technical Staff in Platform Engineering to own the core AI workflow platform in San Francisco. You will build robust distributed systems and high-performance data pipelines enabling long-running tasks across model APIs and environments.

You’ll lead architectural decisions, improve reliability, and collaborate with a small, highly technical team to support rapid growth and collaboration with leading AI research labs.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on depth.
• Production experience in distributed systems, data pipelines or infra.
• Experience building or scaling production systems with measurable results.
• Strong reliability, scalability, fault tolerance and observability.
• Ownership of at least one major project from requirements to production.
• Ability to solve ambiguous problems and make architectural decisions.
• Experience in high-calibre engineering teams or startup infra.
• Comfortable working in person in San Francisco, 9-9-6 schedule.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable platform infrastructure for AI workflows.
• Develop distributed systems for long-running agent executions across models and environments.
• Build and optimise data pipelines for task execution, evaluation results and datasets.
• Improve performance, throughput, latency, reliability and efficiency.
• Design robust failure recovery, observability, debugging and monitoring.
• Build internal tools for domain experts to create, manage and review tasks.
• Identify bottlenecks and scale AI processing.
• Own projects from requirements through release and optimisation.
• Establish high engineering standards and reliable development processes.
• Collaborate with founders and engineers to shape long-term direction.
