Role Overview

The Senior Network Platform Engineer will play a hands-on role in designing, operating, and continuously improving the firm’s global network infrastructure. This position will own significant portions of the network platform across data centers, cloud environments, internet edge, colocation facilities, WAN, and market connectivity.

The ideal candidate combines deep networking expertise with strong automation and infrastructure engineering skills and is comfortable working in a highly performance-sensitive, technically demanding environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design, engineer, operate, and continuously improve global network infrastructure across private data centers, cloud environments, colocation facilities, internet edge, WAN, and market connectivity.
  • Design and evolve modern data center network fabrics using EVPN/VXLAN, BGP, leaf-spine architectures, ECMP, and high-performance Ethernet technologies.
  • Engineer highly available routing and switching environments supporting critical production applications, cloud services, and performance-sensitive workloads.
  • Design and operate BGP, OSPF, multicast, QoS, DNS, load balancing, WAN, and internet edge services.
  • Optimize network performance, latency, resiliency, and routing convergence through telemetry, packet captures, synthetic testing, and performance analysis.
  • Build automation for network provisioning, configuration, validation, monitoring, compliance, and lifecycle management using Python, APIs, Git, Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent technologies.
  • Develop tooling and standardized workflows that improve network consistency, reduce operational overhead, and simplify infrastructure management.
  • Own and contribute to network architecture spanning data centers, cloud networking, WAN, internet edge, DNS, DDoS protection, load balancing, and network observability.
  • Design and implement network security controls in partnership with Security Engineering, including segmentation, secure routing, encrypted transport, privileged access, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Support hybrid cloud networking across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, integrating cloud infrastructure with enterprise and data center networks.
  • Partner with Linux, Windows, Data Center Infrastructure, Security Engineering, Developer Infrastructure, and application teams to integrate networking with compute, storage, identity, and application platforms.
  • Evaluate emerging networking technologies and infrastructure approaches that improve performance, resiliency, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in production support and an on-call rotation while driving improvements in reliability, observability, automation, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in network engineering, infrastructure engineering, or network platform engineering within enterprise, cloud, service provider, or financial services environments.
  • Advanced experience designing and operating modern IP networks, including BGP, OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN, multicast, QoS, ECMP, and highly available routing architectures.
  • Strong experience designing and operating data center networks, including leaf-spine architectures, network virtualization, and high-performance Ethernet fabrics.
  • Strong understanding of network forwarding behavior, buffering, congestion management, routing convergence, and performance optimization.
  • Strong network automation experience using Python, APIs, Git, and infrastructure management tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent.
  • Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud networking across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, including technologies such as Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, VPC/VNet networking, and cloud-native networking services.
  • Experience designing highly available internet edge and WAN architectures, including routing policy, DNS, DDoS mitigation, load balancing, and traffic engineering.
  • Experience implementing network security architectures involving segmentation, firewalls, secure management infrastructure, and encrypted transport.
  • Experience with network observability, streaming telemetry, packet analysis, distributed systems, and infrastructure performance engineering.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex network issues across infrastructure layers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across infrastructure, security, development, and business-facing engineering teams.
  • Strong curiosity and a continuous learning mindset with the ability to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies when they provide meaningful technical or business value.
Preferred Qualifications
