Every trade, every application, every cloud workload runs on one thing: the network. As a Senior Network Platform Engineer, you won't just keep the lights on — you'll own significant pieces of a global platform built for the speed and precision a quantitative trading firm demands.
This is hands-on infrastructure work across datacenter fabrics, cloud networking, internet edge, market connectivity, and automation. You'll design the systems, write the tooling, and push the architecture forward so the network operates as one cohesive platform — not a patchwork of individual boxes.
What You'll Do
- Engineer the platform. Build and operate our global network across private data centers, cloud, internet edge, colocation, and market connectivity — held to the reliability and performance bar a trading environment demands.
- Design modern fabrics. Architect leaf-spine datacenter networks using EVPN/VXLAN and BGP, optimized for fast convergence and operational simplicity at scale.
- Chase performance. Use telemetry, packet captures, and synthetic testing to shave latency, tighten convergence, and strengthen resiliency across the platform.
- Automate everything. Build provisioning, configuration, validation, and monitoring tooling in Python — reducing manual toil and standardizing how the network is managed.
- Own the architecture. Take direct ownership of key domains: WAN, DNS, load balancing, DDoS protection, and network observability.
- Build security in. Partner with Security Engineering on segmentation, encrypted transport, privileged access, and Zero Trust principles.
- Collaborate across teams. Work closely with Linux, Windows, Data Center & Fleet Infrastructure, and Developer Tools teams to make sure the network integrates seamlessly with compute, storage, and application platforms.
- Stay ahead of the curve. Evaluate emerging technologies and bring the best ones into production.
- Support what you build. Participate in an on-call rotation and drive continuous improvement in reliability and operational excellence.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years in network, infrastructure, or platform engineering within enterprise, cloud, service provider, or financial services environments.
- Deep expertise in modern IP networking: BGP, OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN, multicast, QoS, ECMP, and highly available routing.
- Strong background in datacenter networking: leaf-spine fabrics, network virtualization, and high-performance Ethernet.
- Solid grasp of forwarding behavior, buffering, convergence, and congestion management.
- Hands-on automation experience with Python, APIs, Git, and tools like Ansible or Terraform.
- Experience with hybrid cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP) — Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, Transit Gateway, VPC networking, and more.
- Track record designing resilient internet edge architectures: routing policy, DDoS mitigation, DNS, and load balancing.
- Experience implementing network security architectures, including segmentation and encrypted transport.
- Comfort with distributed systems, observability platforms, and packet-level performance analysis.
