Job summary

Vercel is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to join the Data Engineering team. You will work on core platform components—streaming systems, storage layers, and tooling—used by engineers, analysts, and data scientists.

You’ll build and operate components with Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake at scale. You will help design systems around throughput, latency, schema evolution, fault tolerance, and cloud-native reliability, while collaborating with senior engineers and data teams across the

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• Strong programming foundation in infrastructure or data systems (Python/Java/Scala/Go).
• Experience with distributed systems and streaming (Kafka).
• Comfort with SQL and curiositiy about storage/query engines like ClickHouse or Snowflake.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to data ingestion, movement, and serving systems across Vercel.
• Work with Kafka and streaming tooling to support real-time data movement.
• Help build monitoring, alerting, and observability to prevent outages.
• Contribute to internal tools and abstractions for self-service across ClickHouse, Tinybird, Snowflake.
• Develop platform features with growing independence and iterating on code review feedback.
• Help implement access controls, data protection, and compliance with senior engineers.
