Job summary

Vercel is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to join the Data Engineering team. You’ll work on the platform itself—streaming systems, storage layers, and tooling that engineers and data scientists rely on.

You’ll engage with real infrastructure challenges as usage scales and collaborate with senior engineers to build scalable data infrastructure. The role emphasizes building core platform components, governance, and cross-team collaboration, with exposure to architecture decisions and analytics/AI

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in data engineering, backend/infrastructure engineering, or a related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong programming foundation in Python, Java, Scala, Go, or similar.
• Exposure to distributed systems and streaming architectures (Kafka).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to systems that ingest, move, and serve data across the platform.
• Work with Kafka and streaming tooling to support real-time data movement.
• Help build monitoring, alerting, and observability to preempt outages.
• Contribute to internal tools across ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake.
• Develop platform features with growing independence and code-review feedback.
• Help implement access controls, data protection, and compliance practices.
