Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Software Engineer, Platform in New York, NY to own backend systems powering payments, subscriptions, and analytics across iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome, and web.

You'll design APIs, improve services for performance and cost, and drive correctness with strong logging and validation. The role emphasizes automation, ownership, and collaboration with product and front-end teams.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience with TypeScript/Node.js.
• Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Structured approach to ownership and sharing work.
• Experience setting up or describing AI agent workflows.
• Ability to verify results via logs and system state.
• Ability to drop non-essential work and justify decisions.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker).
• Experience deploying on Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics.
• Improve and harden services to be faster and cheaper.
• Ensure changes are correct before shipping and implement checks.
• Automate repetitive parts of the role to gain focus.
• Turn individual work into repeatable team processes.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations on top of Speechify.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend ahead.
