Job summary

Compass is hiring a software engineer to build robust backend microservices and APIs that power our integrated Title & Escrow, Insurance, Mortgage, and Home Warranty platforms. You will also contribute to frontend work with React and TypeScript, delivering features end-to-end in a collaborative, Agile environment.

We value strong problem-solving with data structures and algorithms, plus experience in microservices, AWS, and Kafka.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of software engineering experience developing well-tested, high-performance applications.
• Strong backend engineering skills with Go, Node.js, Python, or Java.
• Experience with frontend tech (TypeScript/React) and full-stack delivery.
• APIs and microservices experience (REST/gRPC).
• Familiarity with AWS and event-driven systems like Kafka; CI/CD tooling a plus.
• Commitment to testing best practices (Jest, Cypress, etc.).
• A collaborative, independent executor with a drive to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Develop Core Backend Services powering One-Click Title & Escrow, Insurance, Mortgage, and Home Warranty workflows.
• Contribute across the stack, including frontend interfaces with React & TypeScript.
• Deliver features end-to-end and ensure code is secure, stable, and testable.
• Improve operational metrics, monitoring, and participate in on-call rotations.
• Write high-quality tests and minimize technical debt.
• Serve as a SME for internal components and mentor peers and interns.
• Participate in Agile workflows, code reviews, and design discussions.
