Folsom, CA The Ecosystem Platform/Systems Engineer is responsible for platform feature enabling, testing, automation, and release operations across a range of client, workstation, and specialized platform form factors. This role combines hands‑on system integration with software lifecycle practices, scripting, and project management. The engineer supports both mature release processes and new experimental services, ensuring technical alignment with business goals and quality standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Configure, enable, and test workstation, client, and other form factor platforms for hardware and software/firmware feature deployment and testing
- Set up and maintain Linux and Windows environments, including remote access using SSH, for validation and integration workflows
- Develop and maintain automation scripts in Python, Bash, and PowerShell to streamline feature enabling, testing, building, and deployment
- Build and support CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins to ensure reliable and repeatable software release workflows
- Manage firmware and driver release packages, including testing, packaging, documentation, and external delivery
- Troubleshoot issues across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries, collaborating with developers and validation teams to ensure root‑cause resolution
- Apply object‑oriented programming concepts and SDLC principles to improve internal tools, workflows, and release quality
- Scope and manage new technical initiatives, including prototypes, tooling enhancements, and internal services
- Use Git to manage source code, release assets, and documentation in a traceable and collaborative manner
- Produce detailed release notes, change logs, and configuration documentation for internal and external stakeholders
- Mentor junior technical staff and technician teams in test procedures, automation tools, and documentation best practices
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Linux and Windows OS environments, including command‑line operations and remote access using SSH
- Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, and PowerShell
- Familiarity with Git version control and collaborative software workflows
- Hands‑on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, especially using Jenkins
- Understanding of object‑oriented design concepts and the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical work into business‑aligned deliverables
- Ability to plan, scope, and execute cross‑functional technical projects
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with hardware bring‑up, firmware validation, or system‑level debugging
- Experience working in enterprise validation labs or on early platform enablement
- Understanding of release compliance requirements and external partner documentation standards
- Exposure to developing or supporting internal tooling, prototypes, or experimental service workflows
- Travel (domestic or international) as necessary, to support Intel's third‑party enabling efforts.
