Job summary

Prime Metal Buildings & Components in Dublin, Texas, is looking for Plateline and Flangeline Operators to manage machine operations and material handling in our production shop. Responsibilities include monitoring product quality, setting up machines, and ensuring safety compliance. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate various machines and handle material within the shop.

  • Perform First Piece Inspection and quality checks.

SUMMARY

Our Plateline and Flangeline Operators are responsible for operating various machines within our shop, as well as handling the material that is administered through the machines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Observe machine during operation to monitor quality of finished product and/or material issues, adjusting machine as necessary.
  • Download or generate computer programs to direct machines for proper operation and specifications for job as needed.
  • Set up and operate machines with proper tooling and consumables for current job needs.
  • Maintain material reporting and plan best material usage to maximize finished products with least amount of raw material used.
  • Use lifting devices such as cranes, forklifts, or other equipment to place materials/parts where needed.
  • Use measuring tools such as tape measure, calipers, micrometers, etc. to perform First Piece Inspection and other quality checks before, during and after production to confirm material and/or product meets specifications.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience in manufacturing/fabrication shop is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player.
  • Follow safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs regularly and up to 75lbs occasionally with assistance.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms to handle materials, tools, and welding equipment and machines.
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, climb, or work in awkward positions to complete work.
  • Visual acuity to read measurements, inspect welds, and maintain quality standards.
  • Exposure to welding fumes, bright light (arc flash), heat, sparks, and airborne particles.
  • Everyday use of PPE including flame-resistant clothing, welding helmet, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety-toe boots.
  • Climate conditions vary in production areas from hot in the summer to cold in the winter.
