  • Ability to read and understand a tape measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Must possess good mechanical ability and operate welding and fabricating machines.
  • Demonstrates ability to operate welding and fabricating tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Clock in/out on each job using the shop order.
  • Operate roll machine and set required settings for material type and size.
  • Weld seams using manual welding equipment.
  • Potentially operate flame cutting torches or plasma cutter.
  • Report quality or safety issues to supervisor.
  • Work as a team member and maintain safety practices.
  • Care for equipment and promote workplace safety improvements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Work across departments as needed.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Will use shop order to clock in and out on each job as it is run.
  • Operate the roll machine by selecting the required settings depending on type and size of material and drawing requirements.
  • Operate manual welding equipment to fuse metal together to hold seams in place for long seam welding.
  • May be required to operate flame cutting equipment torches or plasma cutter.
  • Notifies supervisor of any quality or safety issues.
  • Maintains effective interpersonal working relationships and functions as a team member.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Works in other departments on an as-needed basis.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
  • Must have a basic understanding of computers.
  • Must have reading, writing and simple math skills.
  • Must be able to read blue prints.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess good mechanical ability and the ability to perform basic calculations to operate welding and fabricating machines.
  • Demonstrates ability to operate a welder, grinder, bandsaw, ironworker, overhead crane, torch, measuring devices and a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Prior work record indicating dependability and conscientiousness.
  • Must be willing to work in a team-oriented environment.
