Job summary

Primebldg is seeking a fitter to facilitate steel structure completion in line with blueprints and pre-engineered drawings. You will read blueprints, lay out designs, perform MIG welding and finish parts to spec, while maintaining a safe, clean workspace and collaborating with team members.

Responsibilities include reading measurements, using measuring tools, and adhering to safety procedures. This role requires teamwork and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a

Qualifications

  • Must pass 1G Unlimited weld test.
  • Manufacturing/fabrication shop experience preferred.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Follow safety procedures including PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Lay out and position metal designs for completion.
  • Perform MIG welding.
  • Heat, form, and dress metal parts with welding equipment.
  • Add stiffeners and brackets using prints.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment.
  • Hold configurations for welding using tack-welds or clamps.
  • Work well in a team and use measuring equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

Our Fitter is responsible for facilitating the completion of steel structures in compliance with blueprints/pre‑engineered drawings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Efficiently read and interpret blueprints.
  • Lay out and position metal designs for completion.
  • Perform MIG welding process.
  • Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts with the use of welding equipment.
  • Add stiffeners, brackets, face plates, etc. using prints for location prior to finish welding.
  • Maintains a safe, clean working environment.
  • Hold required configurations or positions for welding by a tack‑weld, heat‑bend, clamp, hold, or grind.
  • Proficient within a team environment.
  • Comprehends how to use measuring equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be able to pass 1G Unlimited weld test.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing/fabrication shop is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player.
  • Follow safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally with assistance.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms to handle materials, tools, and welding equipment.
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, climb, or work in awkward positions to complete welds.
  • Visual acuity to read measurements, inspect welds, and maintain quality standards.
  • Exposure to welding fumes, bright light (arc flash), heat, sparks, and airborne particles.
  • Everyday use of PPE including flame‑resistant clothing, welding helmet, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety‑toe boots.
  • Climate conditions vary in production areas from hot in the summer to cold in the winter.
