Job summary

Prime Metal Buildings & Components is seeking a dedicated Fitter to complete steel structures per blueprints/pre-engineered drawings. You’ll read blueprints, lay out designs, and perform MIG welding in a team environment.

Responsibilities include assembling components, verifying alignments, maintaining safety, and using measuring tools to ensure quality welds. On-site work in our Texas facility offers steady hours and opportunity for skill growth.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass 1G Unlimited weld test.
• Prior experience in manufacturing/fabrication shop is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player.
• Follow safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.

SUMMARY

Our Fitter is responsible for facilitating the completion of steel structures in compliance with blueprints/pre-engineered drawings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs regularly and up to 75lbs occasionally with assistance.
• Frequent use of hands and arms to handle materials, tools, and welding equipment.
• Ability to kneel, crouch, climb, or work in awkward positions to complete welds.
• Visual acuity to read measurements, inspect welds, and maintain quality standards.
• Exposure to welding fumes, bright light (arc flash), heat, sparks, and airborne particles.
• Everyday use of PPE including flame‑resistant clothing, welding helmet, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety‑toe boots.
• Climate conditions vary in production areas from hot in the summer to cold in the winter.
