Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Texas.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a surgical first assist and provide skilled intraoperative support.
• Use surgical instruments and adhere to sterile technique and OR policies.
• Obtain detailed histories and perform perioperative physical exams for plastic surgery patients.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests (X-ray, EKG, labs, etc.).
• Develop assessments and care plans with supervising faculty.
• Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, suturing and wound care.
• Educate patients on treatment plans and home care.
• Maintain clinical records and document patient status and treatments.
• Provide follow-up and health maintenance per physician protocols.
• Support PA and NP students on the service.
