Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a Plastic Surgery Nurse Practitioner to provide advanced nursing care in a busy clinic and operating room setting. The NP will work with plastic surgeons and a multidisciplinary team to manage preoperative assessments, postoperative care, and patient education.

The role involves ordering diagnostics, assisting in planning and counseling, and supervising wound care and recovery.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• If APRN licensed before Aug 1, 1995, master's degree preferred.
• Experience in plastic or reconstructive surgery settings preferred.
• Current licensure as RN and NP in each state of practice.
• DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
• State license for Controlled Substances if required by state.
• National board certification as Family (NP-C) or FNP-BC; other certifications need market-executive approval.
• Privileging and credentialing documents govern minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care to patients undergoing reconstructive and cosmetic procedures.
• Collaborate with plastic surgeons and multidisciplinary teams.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests (imaging, labs) relevant to plastic surgery.
• Assist in surgical planning and provide preoperative counseling on procedures, risks, and recovery.
• Manage postoperative care including wound care and pain management; monitor for complications.
• Educate patients on procedures, expectations, and long-term care.
• Document care accurately in the EHR; participate in outpatient clinics and follow-up visits.
• Support research, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives in plastic surgery.
