Job summary

Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD, seeks a General Surgery Nurse Practitioner to collaborate with a surgeon and provide comprehensive perioperative care. The APP will perform preoperative assessments, postoperative management, and assist in procedures as needed.

You will work with Dr. Ness to support a growing general and bariatric surgery practice, with inpatient rounding, clinic duties, and some operative time. State licensure and AGACNP-BC/ACNPC-AG credentials are required.

Qualifications

• Master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate NP program accredited by relevant nursing boards.
• National board certification as AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG; other certifications require approval.
• Current RN and NP licensure in practice states; DEA permit for controlled substances.

Responsibilities

• Provide preoperative evaluations and education.
• Assist in intraoperative and postoperative care.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans with surgical team.
• Prescribe medications and therapies per state laws and policies.
• Document care and coordinate follow-up care.
• Stay current with general surgery advancements.
