Job summary

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery seeks an Advanced Practice Provider to deliver specialty medical care in outpatient and surgical settings. Located in Wauwatosa, WI at the Tosa Center and also in Menomonee Falls, the APP works as part of a multidisciplinary team to support excellence in patient care, safety, research, and teaching.

Qualifications

• Previous APP Plastic Surgery experience preferred.
• Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
• DEA Eligibility
• Wisconsin APRN Licensure
• APRN Certification
• Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization
• Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP)
• Adult‑Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP)
• Family NP (FNP)
• Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
• Certification by NCCPA

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring Plastic Surgery intervention in outpatient environment.
• Supports surgeons with procedures in the operating room.
• Writes accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders.
• Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information.
• Privileged to perform procedures beyond core as identified by the Plastic Surgery services.
• Facilitates and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.
• Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Joint Commission.
• Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard.
• Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature.
