Job summary

Barnes Aerospace in Connecticut is seeking an experienced Plasma Spray Technician to support aerospace coatings operations on night shift.

Role requires 3+ years in plasma spraying, knowledge of Robotic Plasma Gun systems, ability to read blueprints, and strong math and multitasking skills.

This safety‑sensitive position requires HS diploma and compliance with FAA/DOT rules; shift training on 1st/2nd shift may be provided.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ plasma spraying experience; aerospace environment preferred.
  • Knowledge/Practical use and programming of Robotic Plasma Gun systems.
  • Good mathematical skills and ability to read/interpret complex blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, set up, and spray parts to meet production requirements.
  • Mask and/or grit blast parts to prepare for coating.
  • Develop plasma spray programs with Engineering; determine parameters and materials.
  • Ensure proper fixtures, maintain inventory of materials and tooling.

Position Details:

Pay rate + 17% Shift Differential

Shift: Mon - Fri 10:30pm-7:00 am

Must be able to train on 1st and/or 2nd shift.

Your Expertise:
  • 3+ years’ experience plasma spraying; aerospace environment preferred
  • Knowledge/Practical use and programming abilities of Robotic Plasma Gun (Sulzer Metco Multi Coat Sprayer System and ABB 2400 Series Robot)
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical documents
  • Skills Desired: strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, good communications skills
Your Challenge:
  • Perform a variety of duties to plan, set up, and spray parts to meet production requirements. Mask and/or grit blast part to prepare for coating. Use judgment in determining proper flow and speed of spray for the best results and compliance with all specifications.
  • Interpret work orders, engine manuals, and blueprints to determine information such as type of operations, and sequence of operations required.
  • Work with Engineering to develop plasma spray programs, determine new methods, develop parameters, and determine material type for new or modified products. Assist with new tooling ideas.
  • Ensure use of proper fixtures and tools; maintain adequate inventory levels of material to meet production goals. Requisition materials and tooling as required.
Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
