Qualifications

• Graduate from paramedic, nursing, PA, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic program.
• Foreign medical graduates must be licensed as a physician or hold state EMT certification.
• For NY: current RN/MD/DO licensure or reciprocal state certification.
• Minimum of one year of relevant healthcare experience.
• Experience in plasma or whole blood collection centers preferred.
• Ability to perform and analyze basic physical assessments (heart, lungs, signs of drug use).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including medications as allowed.
• Interview donors and review medical history to determine donation suitability.
• Collaborate with Center Medical Director to address donor suitability questions.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess symptoms affecting donation.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive tests; refer for follow-up and counseling.
• Provide routine care per SOPs and escalate critical medical situations to physicians as needed.
