Job summary

CSL Plasma in the United States is seeking Associate Medical Staff to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff. You will interview donors, review medical history, and determine donation eligibility while coordinating with medical leadership.

The role requires medical training (paramedic, nursing, PA, or medical school) and licensure as applicable; prior plasma center experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician.
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD or DO in the state you are applying for work or in a reciprocal state.
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures under general supervision.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medication or treatments.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donation suitability.
• Collaborate with Center Medical Director to address donor suitability questions.
• Review test results to determine continued donor suitability and assess donor symptoms.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer to community facilities for follow-up.
• Provide routine care following SOPs and escalate critical medical situations as required.
