Job summary

CSL Vifor seeks a Medical Donor Specialist to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures, administer immunizations, and provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff.

The role includes confidential donor interviewing, reviewing medical histories and tests, counseling on reactive results, and documenting in the donor information system while ensuring HSE/OSHA compliance. A valid state medical licensure or foreign medical degree with current license/EMT is required.

Qualifications

• Active licensure in a medical field is required.
• Foreign medical school completion is acceptable with current licensure or EMT certification.
• Minimum of one year experience in a health care environment or clinical experience from education.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood center preferred.
• Ability to perform physical assessments (heart, lungs, signs of drug use).
• Ability to instruct donors and staff about plasma donation programs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Administer approved immunizations (excluding RBC) and provide limited emergency care.
• Promote positive donor relations and conduct confidential donor interviews.
• Respond to medically related questions with the Center Medical Director/Physician.
• Review donor screening results and determine continuing donor suitability.
• Counsel donors on reactive test results and refer for follow-up as needed.
• Record donor data accurately in the electronic system and maintain confidentiality.
• Maintain compliance with HSE/OSHA policies and procedures.
