Job summary

CSL Plasma in SAN ANTONIO, Texas is seeking a Donor Medical Specialist to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and to provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff in line with licensure. You will interview donors, review medical history, and determine donation eligibility, while following established SOPs.

Under supervision, you will assess test results, counsel donors on reactive findings, and escalate critical cases to the Center Physician as needed,

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• Minimum of one year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center preferred.
• Ability to assess heart and lung sounds and detect signs of drug use.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff per licensure.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donation suitability.
• Respond to donor questions with the Center Medical Director.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer for follow-up.
• Escalate critical medical situations to the Center Physician as required.
