Job summary

CSL Plasma in Spartanburg, SC seeks a healthcare professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis, interview donors, and perform medical history reviews to determine eligibility to donate plasma.

You will provide limited emergency medical care per licensure, respond to questions with the Center Medical Director, review test results, counsel donors with reactive results, and escalate critical cases per SOPs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician.
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD or DO in the state you are applying for work or in a reciprocal state.
• Minimum of one year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medication or treatments per licensure.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine suitability to donate plasma.
• Respond to medically related questions and provide information to staff on donor suitability with Center Medical Director.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms that may prevent donation.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer donors to community facilities for follow-up.
• Provide routine care per SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician or local providers as required.
