Job summary

CSL in Orlando, FL is seeking a professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff. You will interview donors, review medical histories, and determine eligibility to donate plasma under supervision.

In collaboration with the Center Medical Director, you will address donor questions, review test results, and counsel on reactive results.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must be licensed as a physician or state EMT certification
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as RN, MD or DO in the state you are applying for work or in a reciprocal state
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience in a health care environment
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred
• Ability to perform physical assessments including heart and lung sounds and signs of drug use

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures under general supervision
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including medications per licensure
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine suitability to donate plasma
• Respond to medically related questions and provide information to staff on donor suitability with Center Medical Director
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer donors to community facilities for follow-up
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician or local medical services as required
