Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to ensure safe plasma donation operations at our Lenexa, KS centers. You will determine donor eligibility, review lab results, manage donor adverse events and act under Center Manager and Center Physician guidance to uphold medical standards.

We require EMT-Paramedic licensure, CPR/AED, and two years clinical experience. The role includes supporting vaccination programs and EHS processes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Licensed or certified in the state where duties assigned (EMT-Paramedic).
• CPR and AED certification current.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and medical emergencies per SOPs; support Center Physician standing orders and donor transport.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation; refer to EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemic threats.
