Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks a Plasma Center Nurse (Medical Support Specialist) in the USA (IN) Indianapolis area. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, review lab results, and support center operations under Center Manager and Center Physician guidance.

Licensed RN/NP/PA with CPR/AED, IV therapy qualifications, and clinical experience are required. This is a part-time role with potential growth and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: RN, NP or PA.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) per SOPs and handle medical emergencies with standing orders and donor transport as needed.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
